This is a type of opacity that forms on the back of the lens. Its seen in the inner surface of the posterior capsular bag. These occur in patients on steroids, with diabetes and those with history of ocular inflammation.
They see glare at night with bright headlight. They have poor near vision with acomodation. Near vision is affected way more than distance vision. Opacity is seen central and irregular. spoke like patterns are also seen.
treatment:
surgical removal of cataract generally helps to get back vision. In medicated children with steroids posterior subcapsular cataract can be corrected by stopping steroids.
