Pterygium is a wing shaped fold of conjunctiva enroaching upon the cornea from either side. Its mostly seen in hot climates. pterygium is seen due to exposure to uv radiations from the sun, dry heat, high wind and abundant dust.Problems with vision are see when it enroaches the pupilary area. There might be diplopia. If theres problem with vision then you can think of surgical excision to remove the pterygium.
